Why can the pH of water increase after filtration?

After filtration, some people notice that the pH of their water may change slightly. This is generally normal and can be explained by the way the filter elements interact with certain substances present in the water.

Coldstream FTO+ filters can reduce certain residues, impurities and dissolved compounds naturally present in tap water. In some cases, this can result in a slight increase in pH, making the water a little less acidic.

Is this normal?

Yes. A slight variation in pH after filtration is generally considered normal and depends greatly on the quality of your local water, its mineral composition and the region in which you live.

The change may be more or less noticeable depending on the installation and does not indicate a malfunction of the system.

Can the taste of the water change?

Yes, some people find that the filtered water has a more neutral, softer or more pleasant taste after filtration. This can be explained by the reduction of certain elements that can influence taste, such as chlorine or certain impurities.

However, the taste of water remains a personal perception and can vary depending on the composition of the tap water in your region.
